A folder with a 4" blade is more of a "want" than a "need" for me, despite a folding knife being one of my most-used tools at work. In my work setting, there just isn't really any cutting task I can do with a 4" blade that I can't accomplish with a 3.5" blade (or even a 2.5" blade). Outside of work, however, that extra cutting edge length & reach can be very handy. The Military 2 Salt makes for a great pocketable kitchen utility knife, and I've found it to be a viable substitute for a small fixed blade when I do trail maintenance and other outdoors-focused tasks. In both cases, the knife's MagnaCut blade steel and Salt-certified hardware mean that concerns about corrosion can be laid mostly to rest & the chore of (eventually) cleaning the knife is a breeze. Not a knife for everyone, but an excellent cutting tool for those who have a use case for a particularly large folder.
