Spyderco McBee CTS XHP – Compact Power, Custom-Born Precision

Designed by U.S. Marine veteran and custom knifemaker Jonathan McNees, the Spyderco McBee proves that size is no barrier to performance. Inspired by his “Killer B” custom folder, this ultra-compact EDC features a saber-ground Wharncliffe blade crafted from CTS XHP stainless steel—delivering scalpel-like precision and surprising cutting power in a sub-2" format.

The stonewashed blade opens smoothly via Spyderco’s Trademark Round Hole™, while the titanium handle scales—complete with McNees’ signature stippling and skeletonized accents—offer a secure, lightweight grip. A Reeve Integral Lock (R.I.L.) ensures rock-solid lockup, and a polished hourglass clip provides discreet, tip-up carry. Built for those who demand performance without bulk, the McBee is a pocket-sized powerhouse.

The Spyderco McBee proves that size isn’t everything. It’s a tiny knife with a surprisingly big appetite for cutting tasks, delivering performance far beyond what its footprint would suggest.
Even with my XL-sized hands, I’m maxed out at a two-finger grip, but it’s a comfortable, secure grip that never feels sketchy. For the kinds of everyday cutting tasks this knife was designed for, I have absolutely no hesitation recommending it.
And let’s be honest—it’s also stupidly cute. That may not improve its cutting performance, but it certainly doesn’t hurt.

Hi Tad, thank you for sharing your positive experience with the McBee! We're glad you find it both functional and charming. Happy cutting!
